Roaring River Falls Day Hike
Cedar Grove - Kings Canyon National Park
Roaring River Falls crash down a rugged granite notch only a short distance before spilling into the South Fork of the Kings River in Cedar Grove. The short hike from the parking lot takes only a few minutes. Few attractions in Kings Canyon National Park are so easy to reach.

Roaring River Falls trailhead is along Highway 180, 3 miles east of Cedar Grove Village at an elevation of 4,865 feet. The small parking lot fills quickly on busy summer days. Restrooms can be found a short drive to the east at the Zumwalt Meadow parking area.
Roaring River Falls Trail
A paved trail leads at an easy grade through a light conifer forest up to the falls. The path is wheelchair friendly. At the overlook by the base of the falls you cannot see the upper portions of the falls, hidden from view in a narrow gorge.
On the return to the parking area, hikers might want to glance upward and across the canyon at the jagged spires of 8,645-foot North Mountain.
Roaring River has its origins deep in the Kings Canyon wilderness on the slopes of 12,641-foot Triple Divide Peak. For 2½ miles above the falls, the river carves its way through a deep, narrow, and impassable canyon.
